CAUGHT
Caught is an exploration of the human need for attention and the comorbid need for privacy. In an era of effortless photo retouching and complete control over one’s image through social media, Caught uses three motor-controlled mirrors to remove agency from the subject.
YEAR: 2018 | DURATION: 6 weeks | ROLE: Concept Design, Fabrication, Code | TEAM of 4

Using a PixyCam, Caught tracks the movement of the user through the accompanying necklace. After the user puts on the necklace and steps back, the mirrors follow later movements through 3 servos. Caught takes a “selfie” during use, that is then uploaded to a television screen to be viewed by others. By standing before the mirrors, the piece assumes consented to be photographed.
